About the PAC
A Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is the collective voice of parents and caregivers within a school community. Every parent or guardian with a child at the school is automatically a member.
At Lord Strathcona Elementary, our PAC works in partnership with school staff and administration to support student learning, strengthen communication, and help shape a positive school experience for all families.
Purpose
The Lord Strathcona PAC exists to nurture a caring, inclusive school community where no student feels left behind and no teacher feels unsupported. We partner with families and staff to provide critical resources—such as school supplies, healthy meals, field trips, and learning tools—that remove financial barriers and ensure every child can fully participate.
We also amplify parent voices and mobilize volunteers so teachers can focus on what matters most: creating a safe, supportive, and inspiring learning environment. We believe that when parents, caregivers, teachers, and students stand together, our school becomes a place where kindness, equity, and learning thrive.

Guiding Principals
The Lord Strathcona Elementary PAC grounds its work in values of respect, collaboration, and community care. These principles guide how we listen, make decisions, and work together to support every student and family. From our Constitution, which is our founding document, this principals reflect our shared belief that a strong, inclusive school community is built through empathy, participation, and mutual understanding.
The PAC strives to embrace diversity, encourage equity and ensure inclusion.
The PAC is dedicated to the education and well-being of the children at Lord Strathcona Elementary School (the "School"). The PAC's primary mandate is to promote effective communication between the School, the home and the community. The PAC will encourage parents to participate in activities and decisions relating to the School, to strengthen the role of families and the community in education.
The PAC will operate as a non-profit organization with no personal financial benefit accruing to members.
The business of the PAC is unbiased in respect of race, religion, gender, politics, sexual orientation, and physical or mental ability.
The PAC is committed to prioritizing Indigenous education and Indigenous representation on the PAC.
These commitments exist, not only because of the significant Indigenous population at our school, but also because this land was stolen and Indigenous ways of life have been irrevocably harmed by intergenerational trauma.
The PAC recognizes that these commitments will not undo the harms of settler colonialism but commits to these actions as a genuine gesture towards improving the lives of Indigenous families and children.
